Mount Kilauea It is Hawaii's youngest and yet most active volcano. It first erupted in January 1983 and has been active ever since.

1. What made the author realize that an eruption occurred? my bed- room became as bright as day red hot lava was fountaining hundreds of metres into the air an absolutely fantastic sight The light was caused by the red-hot rocks and gas that erupted from the volcano.
