3 Your son/daughter will be able to:  talk about their past experiences  read two German novels and summarize them  guide you through Germany, buy plane and train tickets, assist you at the doctor’s office  have conversations, understand a native speaker and understand the culture of German speaking countries

4  Ask them what they learned in class  Have your student teach you German  Practice vocabulary with them  Make sure they do their daily assignments  Allow students to label things around the house  Encourage cultural activities ◦ German Fest in Milwaukee, restaurant visits, music, movies, and more

5 There will be homework almost every night. Each assignment is worth 10 points. They are allowed to turn in homework the next day for 1/2 credit. Homework Contract: A student who is missing his/her third assignment will receive a homework contract. This is to be filled out by the student and signed by the parent/guardian.

6 The grades will be weighted as follows: A 90-100% B 80-89%For the Quarter: C 70-79%Tests and Quizzes:40% D 60-69%Homework:20% F 59% and below Oral/Participation:40% Prairie Ridge High School has Family Access to see your student’s grade and progress online. You should have received the access information tonight.

7  Students need 2 years to graduate, but we encourage students to take all 4 years!  2 years in 2 different languages do not qualify as 4 years.  Most colleges require foreign language for admission.  Some colleges require 4 years of foreign language for admission or graduation.  Most colleges give college course exemptions, when a student takes 4 consecutive years of a foreign language => that will save you $$$.
