3. Your son/daughter will be able to:  talk about their past experiences  read two German novels and summarize them  guide you through Germany, buy plane and train tickets, assist you at the doctor’s office  have conversations, understand a native speaker and understand the culture of German speaking countries

4.  Ask them what they learned in class  Have your student teach you German  Practice vocabulary with them  Make sure they do their daily assignments  Allow students to label things around the house  Encourage cultural activities ◦ German Fest in Milwaukee, restaurant visits, music, movies, and more

5. There will be homework almost every night. Each assignment is worth 10 points. They are allowed to turn in homework the next day for 1/2 credit. Homework Contract: A student who is missing his/her third assignment will receive a homework contract. This is to be filled out by the student and signed by the parent/guardian.

6. The grades will be weighted as follows: A 90-100% B 80-89%For the Quarter: C 70-79%Tests and Quizzes:40% D 60-69%Homework:20% F 59% and below Oral/Participation:40% Prairie Ridge High School has Family Access to see your student’s grade and progress online. You should have received the access information tonight.

7.  Students need 2 years to graduate, but we encourage students to take all 4 years!  2 years in 2 different languages do not qualify as 4 years.  Most colleges require foreign language for admission.  Some colleges require 4 years of foreign language for admission or graduation.  Most colleges give college course exemptions, when a student takes 4 consecutive years of a foreign language => that will save you $$$.
