3
LARP Magnet Assembly Experience Tooling and processes developed from prior magnets – Based on experience from TQS, HQ, LR, LQ Utilizes already-designed tooling – FNAL rollover tooling designs, with some design modifications – Existing lifting hardware (SQXF, LQ, etc.) Differences expected in QXF assemblies: – GPI installation will be incorporated in these coils – SQXF handling tooling should be scalable towards LQXF and production assemblies 12/11/2014 D. LQ Magnet Assembly Experience 12/11/2014 D. Cheng4 Shell & Yoke assembly Coilpack assembly and insertion Magnet handling
5
Short Prototype Assembly Plans 1.5 m long magnetic structure Builds on HQ and LQ experience – Recovers old tooling where possible & cost effective – Also coordinated with CERN tooling design Incorporates new tooling in preparation for scale-up 12/11/2014 D. Cheng5
