TASK, CONDITIONS, STANDARDS TASK: To install, operate, maintain, and troubleshoot the ICOM radio CONDITIONS: In a classroom environment you will be taught and qualified on the ICOM radio STANDARDS: You will be able to understand the basic operations, and troubleshooting of the ICOM radio

Channel Selector Channels 1-16 On/Off Volume Red Key Push and hold to access backlight, beep, and squelch push to select functions you wish to change Programmable keys: P3 lock/unlock P0,P1,P2, red keys P2 power settings Low1, low 2, or normal P1 Push to turn on 5 sec backlight P0 Push to switch encryption on or off Monitor Key Push and hold squelch to adjust volume. USING THE RADIO CON’T Talk Protocol in Encryption Mode Important Ensure that the battery is charged before use Press the Push to talk (PTT) to transmit Because of encryption Type III, there will be a echo and delay on receiving When the radio is on and not transmitting the radio is in monitor mode.

USING THE RADIO CON’T protect radio against water exposure or immersion. It is rain resistant but not submersible. The carrying case is water resistant.. Check antenna for proper installation. Do not use the antenna as a handle. Check the battery for correct latching if there are power issues.

BATTERY OPERATIONS Battery/Charging Cautions and Warnings Danger Use only ICOM batteries and chargers. ALWAYS TURN THE POWER OFF WHILE CHARGING NEVER insert a wet or soiled battery pack/radio into the charger. NEVER incinerate used battery packs. Internal battery gas may cause an explosion. NEVER attach a wet battery to the ICOM radio AVOID leaving the battery pack fully charged, or completely discharged for long time. It causes shorter battery life..
