Evaluative Self Assessment - ESA ELP’s ESA in the ELGs A fancy phrase which means “we collect information about what we do, think about that information, then improve things because of what we have learned”
5
What does ESA achieve? It helps us... plan our programmes so we can be as effective as possible focus on the learner... what do they want/need to learn? review what we are doing... are learners learning? show our learners the progress they are making help learners plan what they want to do next think about and improve what we do have evidence to tell our story better to funders and others We are teachers, our business is learning, ESA helps us be a learning organisation.
6
Why are we doing ESA now? Actually... ESA is not new – we have been doing it for years; just the terminology is new We know that we have a gap in our ESA circle... we want to do some new things to close the circle
7
Why are we doing ESA now? We want to offer learners the best; this helps us do that We want to be a learning organisation – continually improving what we do Our funders expect us to have good evidence which shows that learners are achieving, that we are reviewing what we do, and that we apply what we learn
