Year 11 'Raising Achievement' strategy 'At OBHS all students will strive to achieve at least their target grade in all that they do and at all times. All staff will work relentlessly to ensure that every child reaches their full potential.'

Aim To help students achieve their target grades Provide support for students A clear and coordinated approach by all staff toward raising achievement. Clear tracking of students’ progress.

How? Data capture every half term A 'Raising Achievement Strategic Group' will be formed to identify and agree students who require intervention and support. Two groups identified: High Priority - DRA Medium Priority - CL

Tracking and Monitoring All tracking, monitoring and analysis will be conducted using 4Matrix. Each student identified will have a personalised 'Raising Achievement' plan. This plan will be shared with parent/carer on a termly basis. Student Progress to be monitored fortnightly.

What should I look for? Look at the “Next steps” and ensure that appears in future work ( eg writing in detail, giving reasons) As a general rule Grade A work will be detailed, there will be higher level skills, such as making suggestions/arguments, referring to knowledge beyond the work, clearly reasoned evaluations. Grade C work goes beyond simply describing, there should be some explaining, comparing, selecting e.g evidence. In practical subjects the write ups/ development of ideas is crucial. The exercise book will eventually become a key revision resource so bear this in mind – for example when answering questions.

Attitudes to learning focus Presentation Why does it matter? Ruling off organises the work, shows it is complete Dates help to reference when looking back, or identify work missed through absence Sense of pride Handwriting needs to be legible – this is good practice for your exam.

Careers & Post-16 options All young people now need to stay in education or training until they are 18. This could mean staying in full-time education or working and studying part time.

Year 11s – What to do in the Autumn Term Carefully read the Choices at 16 booklet Use the website Help You Choose to select potential courses, check entry requirements You must have a second choice course/plan to back up your first choice option Go to open days and events, list available in school Check sixth form and college deadlines Complete your applications on Help You Choose between 1 st October and 11 th December 2015 Popular courses will be filled very quickly Consider transport - how will you get to the school/college or place of work Check with colleges and training providers to see if you are eligible for any funding
