2. Possessive Pronouns  A possessive pronoun takes the place of the possessive form of a noun.  Some possessive forms are used before nouns.  Other possessive forms can be used by themselves.  Possessive pronouns do not contain apostrophes.

3. Reflexive and Indefinite Pronouns  Reflexive pronouns are formed by adding –self or – selves to some personal and possessive pronouns. A reflexive pronoun refers back to a noun or pronoun earlier in the sentence. It shows that the same person or thing is involved.

4. Indefinite Pronouns  An indefinite pronoun refers to persons, places, or things in a more general way than a noun does. Some indefinite pronouns include:  Anybody  Each  Everyone  Nobody  None  Some  Somebody  Something

5. Storytown Vocabulary  Cocky : cocky people are overly confident and sure of themselves.

6. Gingerly  If you approach something cautiously and tentatively, you move toward it gingerly.

7. Winced  You have winced when you have pulled suddenly away from something in anticipation of something unpleasant.

8. Terminal  When someone’s condition is terminal, it cannot improve or be cured.

9. Acquaintance  You have an acquaintance with someone you have met but do not know very well.

10. Stymied  You feel stymied when you are prevented from making progress on a task.

11. Retrieve  To retrieve something, you get it and bring it back to where it was before.

12. Rank  Something that is rank tastes or smells foul.
