Part C: Trends in the Media 1. The three biggest newspapers: The New York Times, USA Today, and The Wall Street Journal, have provided digital copies online; less people access these organizations through newspapers. Also articles from these newspapers often appear on other websites.

Twice as many people access the news form portable devices (tablets and cell phones) than they did 10 years ago 3.“Isolating” one’s self when accessing the news: Often people will rely on specific sites to access the news causing them to be ideologically isolated; people will be more conservative or more liberal depending on the websites they access.

Interest groups, political parties, and the media increase political participation in the United States a.Examples of political participation: voting, volunteering for a candidate’s campaign, writing/emailing to a Congressmen, attending a protests about an issue in government, contributing money to a campaign, and contributing time to get a petition signed to change a law. Political participation reflects how one fulfills his or her civic responsibility
