Background Information
University of Nebraska Medical Center Background Information Target population: Adolescents (ages 10 – 19) Health Concern/Vulnerability: Adolescent alcohol consumption leads to teen problems and dependence on alcohol later in life Brief Relevant Data: “Alcohol is by far the drug of choice among youth” (NIH News,2011)

Problem Statement University of Nebraska Medical Center 72% of Nebraska high school students reported consuming alcohol at some point, and adolescent alcohol consumption increases immediate bad consequences and increases the chances of alcohol dependence in adulthood.

Intervention Plan Health teaching to educate future health care providers on the use of NIAAA’s Alcohol Screening and Brief Intervention for Youth Objective: Reach 50 health care providers determined by number of handouts and surveys Increase knowledge of future medical providers
