Nutrition Analysis Super tracker

Nutritional Analysis Students will record all of the food they eat for 3 days and enter the information into a program. The data will be used to create an analysis of your diet compared to a proper diet according to the proper dietary guidelines. Students will use graphs, pictures, and labels to represent the data along with a 1 page analysis.

Adding food Enter everything you have eaten for 3 solid days Remember to look at serving sizes (1 cup, 2 tablespoons) Remember to identify which meal (lunch, snack) Don’t forget your drinks (milk, water, soda, juice)

Analysis Type a 1 page report about your findings. Are you low in any areas? Do you need to add certain foods into your diet? Did anything surprise you in your findings? How will you improve your diet? What do you need to do in your life to make these changes? Single spaced, 12 point font, 1 inch margins, times new roman

What to turn in… Cover page with title, name, class, & year Written food journal (everything you ate and drank for 3 days) 3 graphs from the food tracker (please label each day) Nutrient intake report (one for each day, or one for all 3 days) Written 1 page typed analysis of findings

Written Analysis Sample questions to consider while writing you analysis What did you learn from this project? Did your calorie intake match the recommended 2000? Were there any food groups you were over the recommended value? Any you were under the recommended value in? (refer to chart on super tracker) What nutrients, vitamins, and/or minerals were you over/ under in (refer to nutrient intake report) Are there any changes you need to make in your life to eat a more balanced diet? Should you increase the amount of fruits or vegetables in your diet? Do you need to decrease the amount of carbohydrates/grains you eat? How will you make these changes? What lifestyle choices do you need to make? How can you make healthier choices at a restaurant or dinner table? Will it help if you go to the grocery store with your parents to shop for food?
