Fraction Rap Due Friday, January 9, 2015 Ms. Dahlquist

Assignment Details Create a rap song about fractions Examples: YouTube/TeacherTube Due Date: Friday, January 9, 2015 This will be a project grade (Project grades make up 50% of the course grade, combined with tests and quizzes)

Criteria Can use a “borrowed” rhythm from an existing rap song Lyrics must be appropriate for the school setting Songs must be 1-3 minutes in length Lyrics must cover no less than 1 minute of the song

Criteria (cont.) Starting and stopping points must be in sync with music. Students may not continue the music with original song lyrics in class. Lyrics should cover at least one aspect of fractions that we have learned in class, i.e., definitions of numerator/denominator (part/whole), adding fractions, subtracting fractions, comparing fractions, equivalent fractions, simplest form, LCD (lowest common denominator)

Plagiarism Plagiarism is the copying of another person’s work without their permissions and presenting it as your own. Absolutely NO plagiarism will be accepted as per district policy. Plagiarism will result in a failing grade with NO opportunity for redo. You will be using the music as a background. Music from another source CAN be used, OR you may create your own.

Groups Students may work in groups of no more than three. Groups are not mandatory, but can be utilized. If you choose to work in a group, practicing with your group is recommended for presentation. Upon review of assignments, decisions will be made as to whether presentations will take place with teacher only, or with the class.

Grading Criteria Following instructions (create a RAP song ONLY, which means rhyme and rhythm to a rap beat). Students must have fun with their songs describing and explaining their fraction topic(s). Follow guidelines for length of time. Students may NOT go over 5 minutes. The students will be graded according based on their inclusion of the following criteria:
