Stimulus ARRA $119m recently announced –Awards to states & territories in 3 major categories: Statewide policy & environmental change –58 applicants will receive awards ranging from $335,000- $2.2 million for efforts in nutrition, physical activity and tobacco control. Competitive special policy & environmental change –Went to 13 states to implement 15 projects with awards ranging from $1-3 million. Tobacco cessation through quit lines & media Tobacco cessation through quit lines & media –53 awards made ranging from $50,000-$2.5 million Awards for other Communities Putting Prevention to Work initiatives, including community-based health promotion initiatives, will be announced in the coming weeks.

4. 2010 Appropriations CDC Chronic—Total of $931.3 million an increase of $49.6 million over FY –The big winner: Cancer Prevention & Control with a $30 million increase overall ($370.3 million total). Individual cancer program increases include: –Breast & Cervical +9 million –Breast Cancer for Young Women (new) +5 million –Cancer Registries + 5 –Colorectal Cancer +$5.5 million –Comprehensive Cancer +$4.5 million

5. 2010 Appropriations Other program increases included: –Tobacco +$4.5 million ($110 million total) –Heart Disease & Stroke +$2.1 million ($46.2 million total) Delta Health Intervention +2 million ($5 million total) - Diabetes +$150,000 ($66 million total) –Arthritis +$2 million ($27 million total) –Prevent Block Level funded at $102 –DNPAO +$500,000 ($931.2 million total)
