A perfect square number is a number that results from squaring the counting numbers. When you square a number you raise that number to the second power. 1 2 = 1, 2 2 = 4, 3 2 = 9, 4 2 = 16, … Perfect Squares: 1, 4, 9, 16, 25, 36, 49, 64, 81, 100, 121, 144, 169, …

A Square Root Symbol means “ the square root of x“ By definition = k such that k 2 = x = 6 because 6 2 = 36 = 8 because 8 2 = 64

When taking the square root of a perfect square, the answer will be a positive integer. = 5 = 10 Some numbers are not perfect squares, we can approximate the square root by determining what two numbers the square root lies between. is between 4 and 5 is between 7 and 8 is between 9 and 10
