When not being used for energy they are stored in muscles and liver. Easy to break down Provides our bodies with energy 2 different types….simple & complex Simple: Fruits and sugars Complex: starches, ( breads, pastas Etc.)

Your body needs fat in order to survive Without fat it will cause hair loss, dry skin poor growth, bruising, and low body weight. Examples of fats: Oil, nuts, butter and meats. Eating the right type of fat can make you loose weight…Ex. Olive oil, flaxseed and almonds. Energy is produced by eating fats. Energy is produced by burning them off.

Proteins are building blocks for our body Protein is the structure to our body…ex. Hair, nails and ligaments. Foods that contain protein: eggs, milk, cheese, meats,yogurt and tofu. There many different types of protein…. Whey protein, casein protein and egg protein. Whey protein is a quickly digested protein. Casein protein is a slow digested protein. Egg protein is considered the best source of protein.

Fibre speeds up the waste process Fibres make up the structure of plants. Having fibre in your diet will prevent high cholesterol and risk of heart attack. The recommended amount of fibre is 20 to 35 grams per day. There are two types of fibres…. Insoluble and soluble Insoluble: Wheat bran and some fruits and vegetables. These fibres cannot be dissolved by water. Soluble: Found in beans and oats and some fruits and vegetables. These fibres can be dissolved by water..

We need vitamins to grow properly. Vitamin D in milk helps your bones. Vitamin A in carrots helps you see at night. Vitamin C in oranges helps your body heal if you ever get a cut. Vitamin B in vegetable and leafy greens give your body protein and energy. There are two types of vitamins… fat soluble and water soluble. Fat soluble is a fat that is stored to be used when needed. Water soluble vitamins flow through your blood stream.

A natural occurring substance Helps your body develop, grow and stay healthy. 2 types of minerals…..macro and trace. Macro: the larger minerals such as calcium. Trace: the smaller minerals such as iron and sodium. Fruits and vegetables are examples of foods that have minerals. Minerals are classified as the “nuts” and “bolts” of life.

Our bodies are made up of over 70% of water. A healthy person can drink over 3 gallons of water per day. Water is a clear, colourless, odourless and tasteless liquid. 3 types of water….Utility, softened and drinking water. Utility: used for lawn sprinkling and sanitizing. Softened: used for bathing. Drinking: used for humans to consume.
