Labor Strikes United Mine Workers of America Union called for a strike to protest unfair wages and working conditions President Woodrow Wilson called the strike illegal. Union called off the strike and returned to work.

Kansas Union refused to call off the strike. What does Kansas Governor Henry Allen do? Asked the KS Supreme Court if the state could take over the mines. Recruited college students to work in the mines.

The Kansas Union ended its strike. The state gave up ownership and the workers went back to work in the mines. Governor Allen created the Court of Industrial Relations Workers lose the right to strike. Workers gain collective bargaining.
