Needs Analysis 300,000 school age children cannot access quality education and another xxx are estimated at risk of dropping out of school in the south due to the fact their schools are destroyed/damaged, mines/Uxos, or occupied by IDPs Quality of education is on the decline due to lack of textbooks and other learning materials, teachers not reporting to work, student absenteeism and poverty. Children cannot attend school as they are working in farms, herding animals or supporting family income (Child labor) due to poverty and unemployment created by the conflict The government’s capacity to respond to emergency is weak/not a priority

Construction/rehabilitation of damaged/delapedated school infrastructures. Alleviate some of the cost of schooling burden on poor parents so they can send their children to school. Strengthen and increase affected community awareness of education and available services. INTERVENTIONS IN IMPROVING ACESS

Upgrade teachers skills to be able to utilize learner- centered teaching methodologies; Make available textbooks, leaning and teaching materials and aids; Fight against teachers absenteeism; Provide direct support such as school uniforms and other incentives to poor families; Strengthen the school supervision system INTERVENTIONS TO IMPOVE QUALITY

Group Work Feedback Geographic Prioritization: gather information from different sources (MoE, SFD, local NGOs, etc.) and set priority districts. Joint programming with WFP & WASH (on food in schools and improving school environment. Priority focus: ACCESS

Cluster Objectives 1.Vulnerable boys and girls gain access to child-friendly and life-saving education. 2.Quality of education is strengthened as vulnerable boys and girls gain access to health promoting and life-saving services. 3.Increased cooperation with national and local government ministries, cluster partners/other humanitarian actors on joint assessments, advocacy, programming and monitoring.
