Manassas High School 2007 – 2008 Family Engagement Plan The Manassas High School Family and parents jointly developed the Family Engagement Plan. This School Level Plan has established expectations for parent involvement to promote a successful educational experience for all students.

Manassas High School 2007 – 2008 Family Engagement Plan The Plan ensures that meetings are convened regularly and as needed for parents. Manassas convenes an Annual NCLB Title I meeting, to which all parents have been invited. Communication is via letters, flyers, and or newsletters using language that is understandable to all parents involved.

Manassas High School 2007 – 2008 Family Engagement Plan Parents sign in at the meeting and minutes are recorded. During the meeting, parents are informed of the NCLB Title I requirements, the school’s participation in Title I and the rights of parents to be involved in the school.

Manassas High School 2006 – 2007 Family Engagement Plan Meetings are held in the mornings, afternoons and or evenings to provide for flexible scheduling. Parents are involved in an organized, on- going and timely manner in the planning, review and improvement of school programs through their participation.

Manassas High School 2007 – 2008 Family Engagement Plan Parents will always receive timely information about programs under Parent Involvement through letters and announcements, by mail, telephone calls, newsletters, flyers and the media using language that all parents can understand.

Manassas High School 2007 – 2008 Family Engagement Plan During conferences, small group or individual meetings, parents are provided a description and an explanation of the curriculum in use at the school, forms of academic assessment used to measure student progress, and the proficiency levels that students are expected to meet.

Manassas High School 2007 – 2008 Family Engagement Plan Compact This plan further ensures that parents and the school jointly develop a school-parent compact that outlines how parents, the school, the staff and the students will share responsibility for improving student academic performance.

Manassas High School 2007 – 2008 Family Engagement Plan Compact The Compact describes Manassas’ responsibility to provide high-quality curriculum and instruction in a supportive and effective learning environment that enables the students to meet the State’s academic achievement standards.

Manassas High School 2007 – 2008 Family Engagement Plan Compact The Compact describes ways, (such as monitoring, attendance, homework completion, volunteering in classrooms and positive use of extra-curricular time) in which parents can be responsible for supporting their child’s learning.

Manassas High School 2007 – 2008 Family Engagement Plan Compact This Compact addresses the importance of communication between the teachers and parents on an on-going basis. The school-parent compact is discussed at annually held parent-teacher conferences as it relates to the individual child’s achievement. Parents are given reasonable access to volunteer, participate and observe in their child’s classroom.
