3. Wind Erosion and Transport
Fast moving winds
How does wind move a sediments
Suspension
Saltation
Can carry sediments the same way as water.
Wind may move particles by causing them to roll of become airborne and fly.
When particles are suspended in the air
When the particles bounce along on the ground

4. Effects of wind erosion
Deflation
Dust Bowl
Abrasion
The lowering of the landscape by the removal of soil by the wind.
Over time, whole dunes can move.

Wind blown materials act as a sandblaster. It uses abrasive actions to remove material from solid rock.

As wind speed and direction change, particles settle out
Over time a pile of wind blown sand becomes a dune.
Gentle slope is windy side
Steeper slope is on side away from wind
