How to Write an Outline

Today you will read Chapter 20, Lesson 3: Energy in Ecosystems in your science book (pages 722 – 728) and create an outline of the lesson. Outlines are the essential points or main areas of a written report or a book, etc. Textbooks are designed in an outline form. You will practice today discovering the main points of the chapter, and to write an outline of it. Here is an example of an outline of a report about endangered species.

Introduction of predators or competitors E. Establishing refuges The Roman numerals of an outline of a textbook are often the main headings. Capital letters of an outline of a textbook are often subheadings. Natural numbers (1, 2, 3, etc.) of an outline of a textbook are additional points in the paragraphs of the reading selection.
