Glycolysis is the sequence of reactions that breakdowns glucose to obtain energy. All organism undergo glycolysis. Glycolysis can be carried out both in the presence or in the absence of oxygen. Aerobic respiration refers to the entire conversion of glucose to carbon dioxide in the presence of oxygen. Anaerobic respiration occurs in the absence of oxygen and it is called fermentation.
