2 www.company.com About the Author: Marc Brown When Marc was a child, his grandmother noticed that he liked art. He started working as a truck driver, but his real love was in art work. His first story was called Arthur’s nose. It was one of the first stories about and aardvark with glasses. After that, the character became so popular that a T.V. series was created from it. ddale@alliance.k12.ec

3 www.company.com About the Story: 1.Arthur needs to write a story for homework. 2.He decides to write about his dog. 3.He keeps changing the story because people give him new ideas. 4.When he presents the story, all of the classmates like the first story about his dog more. ddale@alliance.k12.ec

I need some action. suggest – Can you suggest a good restaurant for us to eat at. outer space – The planet Mars is in outer space. weigh – The baby ways 12 kilos. float – Wood floats on water. research – As a class, we researched elephants hurry – Please hurry to finish your work. weird – The food smells weird. I don’t know what it is. spooky – The story was real spooky. I was scared. raise – Please raise the flag to the top of the pole. proud – You did a great job on your poem. 7 www.company.com Phonics This week in phonics we will be studying silent letters. Silent letters are not pronounced when reading or saying the word. In the word SAD you pronounce all of the letters. ddale@alliance.k12.ec SAD
