2 Pre-reading Questions List words that are used to describe people who are overweight and underweight. Then go through your list and identify which words are “objective” and which are “judgmental.’ Pick one celebrity whom you believe to be remarkably beautiful or good looking and list the qualities that make that person so good looking.

4 In-class Discussion 1.Find out the main idea of each section. 2. Look up the word “obesity” in a general dictionary and a medical dictionary. What is the difference between the two different dictionaries’ definitions? How about Gregory’s idea about obesity?

5 1.Please evaluate the pieces of artistic works about women (which will be showed in class) with your ideas about beauty. Discuss why the woman would or would not be considered beautiful by today’s standards? 2.Give examples about people sacrificing their health and comfort in order to attain their society’s preferred look.
