3. Vincent’s Chair It is yellow, with a blue outline to make it stand out The chair represents Van Gogh – uncomfortable, poorly- made and simple Didn’t know smoking was bad for you so smoked a pipe

4. Van Gogh followed in the style of other Impressionist painters such as Monet and Degas. They used complimentary colours (like red and green) to make things stand out. They used rough brush strokes and lots of paint to give the impression of movement. Impressionism

5. Starry Night Because he struggled with his emotions, Vincent Van Gogh moved to a hospital and painted Starry Night there. Starry Night is my favourite of his paintings
