What words mean what?

Why do we need to know this?
Sometimes you are given the words to solve a problem and you have to “translate” into math. In Language B you translate: Can you say: What is your name? (French/Spanish)

Translating: Addition

Translate: Distributive
Three times the sum of a number and six 3(x + 3) Five times the difference of a number and ten 5(x – 10) The word quantity might also be used Six times a quantity of a number plus two 6(x + 2)
