The process is when the steam from the hot water underground goes up a well then the steam drives the turbines, which in turn drive electricity generators. The generators produce electrical energy. The steam escapes the power plant though vents. Excess water is put back into the ground.

PRO’S One of the pros is that the geothermal energy heats your house Puts some water back into the ground One other thing is that it makes hot water for us to use NO POLLUTION Dose not require structures such as solar panels or wind mills to collect energy –can be directly used to heat or produce electricity (thus is very cheap)

CON’S Not much power per vent Not available in many locations Hazardous gases and minerals may come up from under ground and can be difficult to safely dispose of Sometimes a geothermal site may run out of steam perhaps for decades The type of rock above is also important it must be a type that we can easily drill through
