2. Ideas for the iPod There are so many ways you can use your iPod in the classroom. Here are a few ideas: Use music to set the stage as you begin every class! Record oral fluency throughout the year- A great way to show improvement. Create a CD record for parents! Students can listen to their reading at their own pace then retelling the story using the voice recorder. Record a Podcast about classroom weekly/monthly happenings Record a literature circle discussion or book reportbook report Create songs about the curriculum- Example: songs about the states or science topicssongs about the states Have students record their presentations. Example: biography projectsbiography projects Jump to any point in an audio book Video, audio, and images can be loaded on the iPod and provide an excellent manner for bringing a student who missed a day up to speed ELL students struggling with vocabulary can have flash cards on [the iPod video NANO] to see an image, hear a word used in a sentence, and read the word in text—and do it as many times as they need to understand it. Interview community members and create oral histories, including images. Record spelling words, or lessons for students that are absent or need extra review Create a CD of student poetry readings Get a pupil to record the first line a story, pass it to the next pupil to listen to and add to, continue with each pupil adding a part until the story is complete. 5. Recording on your iPod 1. Plug your Belkin or other recording device into you iPod. 2. Plug headphones into iPod for reviewing recordings. 3. Go to Menu and choice VOICE MEMOS 4. Select START RECORDING (Always do a test recording first) 5. Wait for TIMER on iPod Press the RECORD button on Belkin 6. Speak into the device. You should be no closer than 6 inches from the recorder to prevent distortion 7. When finished click Pause- Then STOP and SAVE, RESUME, or DELETE 8. Scroll down to the LAST date in Voice Memos for the most recently recorded audio sound 9. If unsatisfied with the recording you should now delete it and rerecord 10. When finished, either play recording in docking station, or import audio file into Audacity for editing.
