Welcome to Coach Abbott’s Math Class 1.13.15

Tier Time Options…  Basic Skills Practice  GET MATH HELP!!! –questions for me???  Work on Edgenuity on your own device  Math work to earn a retake  Ask me or another teacher for help on an issue  Brainstorm your BIG IDEA for a PROJECT  Read quietly

Agenda - Focus (20 minutes) -Warm Up - Target (30 minutes) -3 act task -Direct Instruction lecture and practice -Personalize (10 minutes) - complete classwork -get help

Standards  MCC7.RP.1 Compute unit rates associated with ratios of fractions, including ratios of lengths,  MCC7.RP.2 Recognize and represent proportional relationships between quantities.  MCC7.RP.2a Decide whether two quantities are in a proportional relationship, e.g., by  testing for equivalent ratios in a table or graphing on a coordinate plane and observing  whether the graph is a straight line through the origin.  MCC7.RP.2b Identify the constant of proportionality (unit rate) in tables, graphs,  equations, diagrams, and verbal descriptions of proportional relationships.  MCC7.RP.2c Represent proportional relationships by equations. For example, if total cost  t is proportional to the number n of items purchased at a constant price p, the relationship  between the total cost and the number of items can be expressed as t = pn.  MCC7.RP.2d Explain what a point (x, y) on the graph of a proportional relationship  means in terms of the situation, with special attention to the points (0, 0) and (1, r) where r  is the unit rate.  MCC7.RP.3 Use proportional relationships to solve multistep ratio and percent problems.  Examples: simple interest, tax, markups and markdowns, gratuities and commissions, fees,  percent increase and decrease, percent error.  MCC7.G.1 Solve problems involving scale drawings of geometric figures, including computing  actual lengths and areas from a scale drawing and reproducing a scale drawing at a different scale.

Focus  Solve…  15/20 = 12/N20/35 = N/14  6/9 = 4/N28/70 = N/15  Make a table for the following equation, try to sketch a graph… y = 4x - 2 Is it Linear? Is it direct? How do you know? Explain  Try to make equation… X1234 Y0-2-4-6

Focus 1. -4(5a 2 + 12a) – (-23a 2 ) + 94a 2. -4a – 9 < 11 - solve and graph 3. -22N – 15 > 73 - solve and graph 4. 15n = -165 5. -3(4a – 6) = 102

Focus – 1. The shoes were $35, but Brian had a 20% of coupon what were the price of his shoes? 2. Equation: 4(10n - 7) = -128 2. Inequality: 6N - 24 + 10N < 40 (graph) 3. Expressions: Solve it… n = -4, y = -7 2. -6y + 23 – 9n

Solve and Graph Inequalities  1.45k – (-28b) + -6(12k –15b) – (32b + 18 -20k)  2.-3n – (-7n) + (-25) < 7  3.-5n +21 < -64  4.-55n – (-35) = 200  5.-6(12n -4) < 240

Warm Up…  -145 + 29 – (45 * -4) + (-3)  -7N + 9 ≤ 37 graph me too  7(3b – 15) ≥ -189 graph me too  -2/3N – (-13) = 3  N/-5 + (-4) = -88

Focus Quiz Adding and Subtracting Fractions 1. 2/3 + (-4/5) 2. 1&1/2 – 4 = 3. ¾ - 3/5 4. -1/3 + ½ 5. -4/5 -1/2

Focus ext. 1. -7.4 + (-2.4) = 2. -49 – (-.37) = 3. -42 - 34 = 4. 32 –(-46) + (-29) –(-44) = 5. Create your own story problem with integers
