Unit assessment: Creation and Production OutcomeAssessment Standards Produce complex and sophisticated written texts by: 1.1 Selecting significant ideas, using a form and structure appropriate to purpose and audience 1.2 Applying knowledge and understanding of language and language choice 1.3 Critically reflecting on the development of their writing

Course assessment Question Paper 1 – Literary Study One critical essay from a range of literary genres: poetry, prose fiction, prose non-fiction, drama Length: one and a half hours Marks: 20 Question Paper 2 – Textual Analysis One response to an unseen extract from a range of literary genres: poetry, prose fiction, prose non-fiction, and drama Length: one and a half hours Marks: 20 Portfolio: Writing Two pieces of original writing produced by the candidate from the following types: persuasive, informative, argumentative, personal/reflective, poetry, prose fiction, drama Marks: 30 (15 + 15) Project: DissertationOne Dissertation on a literary aspect of the candidate’s choosing, 2,500 to 3,000 words in length Marks: 30

Key points of change No set texts for Literary Study Textual Analysis and Portfolio are now compulsory For Portfolio, any two types of writing from list acceptable No genre restrictions for Textual Analysis and Literary Study New word count for Dissertation
