IntroductionIntroduction Matter is anything that takes up space and has mass. Mass is the amount of matter in an object then properties of matter are size, color, shape, texture and size the main states of matter are solids liquids and gases
4
Liquid A liquid has a definite size but no definite shape A liquids particles are more free than a solid but move very slowly
5
Gas A gas has no definite shape or size A gas has no definite shape or size The particles of a gas move fast and free The particles of a gas move fast and free
6
Plasmas Plasmas are a lot like gases Plasmas are a lot like gases The particles are different because they are made up of free electrons and ion and element such as neon The particles are different because they are made up of free electrons and ion and element such as neon They aren't anything that usually happen on earth They aren't anything that usually happen on earth
7
Area Area is the number of square unites that cover a surface Area is the number of square unites that cover a surface Area Area is the number of square unites that cover a surface
8
Perimeter You have to add all sides to find the perimeter
9
Volume Volume is lxwxh you have to measure the length the with and the height because it is a 3d shape
10
Matter 2
11
ElementsElements Elements are the building blocks of matter. Elements have been discovered over the past decades. Elements will be found on what is called the periodic table
12
Atoms are the smallest particles of an element. What is made of an atom is the center which is called the nucleus. What is inside the nucleus is protons and neutrons protons have a positive charge and neutrons have a normal charge. Outside of the nucleus is electrons they have a negative charge and produce electricity Atoms
13
Alloys An alloy is a mixture of Wichita two or more elements, at least on must be a metal
14
Mixture A mixture is two or more types of matter combined
15
Compound A compound is when two or more types of elements combine chemically
16
Solution A solution is a mixture that is blended completely
17
Chemical change A chemical change is when matter changes it self an example is copper acetate
18
Physical Change A chemical change is when you end and begin with the same type of matter change in position size and shape
