Why Option B and C? Gone through the new Appraisal System process twice Listened to administrators and teachers Continually searching for ways to meet the law as well as the needs of administrators, teachers and students Option B and C are the result of this process

Handout- Page 2 Option BOption C Available to Category 3 & 4 teachers With HE/E 12/13 Summative RatingWith HE/E 12/13 Summative Rating AND HE/E Instructional Practice Ratings Who had a Direct Measurement for Student Growth for the 12/13 school year (FCAT, IB, AICE, AP, Dual Enrollment, FAA, and ESE using Brigance) Who had an Indirect Measurement for Student Growth (students who took FCAT but are not in an FCAT course) or who had a School Student Growth (K-3, guidance, media specialists, etc.) or who had a District Student Growth (MTSS, ESE Resource Teachers, etc.) for the 12/13 school year Agree that the 13/14 Instructional Practice (Domains 1-4) be equal to 13/14 Student Growth Score (unless Student Growth is NI or U; then the Instructional Practice score will be no less than E. Teacher does not receive Option B for following school year.) Agree that the 13/14 Instructional Practice Domains 2-3 will be based on 12/13 Instructional Practice Domains 2-3. No pre or post conference or formal observation 4 Classroom Walkthroughs (2 to ensure maintenance of Domains 1-4 4 Classroom Walkthroughs announced/2unannounced) to ensure maintenance of Domains 2-3. Option B and C Currently, we do not know who can receive Option B and C. We do not have the Summative Ratings at this time. Time to think about it! We hope to have all Student Growth results in and applied to Summative ratings in September.

Individual Professional Development Plan Request by teachers and administrators serving on the Oversight Committee and IPDP sub committee to continue to clarify the rubric and provide training that will help with consistency across the district Changes have been made to the rubric Training to be provided during school-based inservice Goal of the training Understanding of the changes Explain the IPDP process Provide opportunities for rating collaboration

IPDP FYI SB1664 one word “Require” to “May” However – Race to the Top agreement states that the IPDP will be a metric in our “multi-metric system” – State Board of Education Protocol Standards for Professional Development include IPDP requirements DOEs ultimate goal is to revise policies so that goals can be achieved in a variety of ways (IPDP or PLC process, for example) IPDPs will still be completed for the 13/14 school year

FYI: More about SB1664 Classroom teachers For the 13/14 School Year, student growth can only be applied based on students served No School VAM for Classroom Teachers for 13/14 Can Use- Direct Measurements (FCAT, Alg I, FAA, IB, AICE, AP, Dual Enrollment, Brigance, Industry Certification, SAT 10, PERT) Indirect Measurements (FCAT Reading VAM based on students who took FCAT but not in an FCAT course, i.e. science) Non-classroom teachers Can use School VAM for Student Growth

New Assessment Additions K-2 SAT 10 (Common Core Aligned) Direct Measurement of Reading Post Test planned for the end of May All students enrolled during testing window will test 3 rd Grade FCAT Direct Measurement of Reading Math for College Readiness (MCR) and English IV: Florida College Prep PERT Direct Measurement Indirect Measurement of Reading where applicable Oversight Committee will meet in September and more information will be forthcoming

AIMS AIMS has undergone a FACELIFT! – Changes by both Truenorthlogic and the District Goal is to have a more user-friendly website – No more drop down arrows to find and click – Appearance is difference – Categories 1 & 2 and Categories 3 & 4 have been merged Step by step directions, with screen shots, provided to guide teachers through the process The self-assessment is available starting August 13 th When you are ready to complete your Self-Assessment, directions can be found at the Project 8 link at http://www.bay.k12.fl.us/rttt/Project8.aspx http://www.bay.k12.fl.us/rttt/Project8.aspx
