Starter 60 second challenge. You have 60 seconds to find a definition of “wireless internet.” Note: You have to be able to fully understand it and explain it (so do not just google it and hope for the best!)

Objectives Understand different personal communication systems are available. Know what personal communications connections are available. Be able to select the most appropriate method of personal communication.

The connections you need to know Wireless (Wi-Fi) Bluetooth WiMax GIS (Geographical Information System) GPRS (General Packet Radio Service)

Wireless Internet Allows you to share a broadband connection. No need for lots of wires. Can access the web on a range of appliances (phone, TV, games console etc). Let’s everything ‘talk’ to each other. Secure (if protected) Requires wireless equipment. Can ‘conflict’ with surrounding devices. Could be hacked? Security / Transmission interception. Wireless Router Needed. Can share information, music etc.

Where for art thou Wireless In the home. Small businesses School Trains / Public Transport Increasingly more in the public places.

Create a Concept Map Using appropriate software you need to create a concept diagram (spider diagram / brain storm etc). This must show: What wireless is. What are the benefits What are the drawbacks Who would use it. Struggling with software? use www.bubbl.us
