US CMS Collaboration Meeting: May 10-11, 20022 Election Committee Two-member committee, established by the 1999 US CMS Constitution Election of the Election Committee members was conducted in April 2002 by the Collaboration Board Chair Jim Hanlon (Fermilab) and Jay Hauser (UCLA) were re-elected

US CMS Collaboration Meeting: May 10-11, 20023 Election Committee Duties Seek and propose candidates for US CMS elective offices Supervise all elections (except the election of Election Committee members) Supervise ratification of constitutional modifications Receive petitions for extraordinary CB meetings, recall of US CMS officers, and constitutional modifications

US CMS Collaboration Meeting: May 10-11, 20028 Election Procedures Procedures for the election of the CB Chair and Deputy were announced to the collaboration by e-mail on May 7, 2002 Nominations may be made by any member of the US CMS Collaboration either at this meeting or via e-mail during the next two weeks time will be provided for any candidate who wishes to make a statement to the collaboration Election requires a majority vote of the US CMS Collaboration Board will be conducted via e-mail during the two-week period following close of nominations

US CMS Collaboration Meeting: May 10-11, 20029 Election Schedule Nominations open: today, May 11 Solicit nominations from the collaboration via e-mail: May 13 Nominations close: May 24 Ballot sent via e-mail to CB members: May 27 Nominees who agree to stand for election will be encouraged to issue a statement relating to their prospective term as US CMS Collaboration Board Chair or Deputy Elections close: June 7 A majority vote of the 37 US CMS institutions is required for election

US CMS Collaboration Meeting: May 10-11, 200210 USASCB Elections Nominations will be solicited via e-mail during the period May 13-24 Elections will follow a similar schedule to the CB Chair and Deputy elections Nomination and election procedures will be separate from those for CB Chair and Deputy Election requires a majority of the votes cast

US CMS Collaboration Meeting: May 10-11, 200211 Call for Nominations The CB Chair and Deputy are important positions in working with the collaboration, the funding agencies, the project management, and the host laboratory We urge all collaboration members to give serious consideration in selecting the best qualified candidates for these two-year positions Nominations from the floor we would like the nominator to give a brief statement (even a few words) of support for the nominee the nominee can make a brief statement on his/her own behalf if so motivated
