1 Is Your Baptism Scriptural?
“one Lord, one faith, one baptism” Ephesians 4:5

2 Acts 19:1-7 1 And it came to pass, that, while Apollos was at Corinth, Paul having passed through the upper coasts came to Ephesus: and finding certain disciples, 2 He said unto them, Have ye received the Holy Ghost since ye believed? And they said unto him, We have not so much as heard whether there be any Holy Ghost. 3 And he said unto them, Unto what then were ye baptized? And they said, Unto John's baptism.

3 4 Then said Paul, John verily baptized with the baptism of repentance, saying unto the people, that they should believe on him which should come after him, that is, on Christ Jesus. 5 When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. 6 And when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the Holy Ghost came on them; and they spake with tongues, and prophesied. 7 And all the men were about twelve.

4 Why be baptized? Jesus said: Mk.16:15,16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved, but he that believeth not shall be condemned. 1. To get into Jesus…Gal. 3:27 2. To be added to His church. Acts 2:47; I Cor. 12:13; 3. To have sins remitted. Acts 22:16 4. To please God. Matt. 7:21-23

Acts 2:38, 41 guilty of ‘murder’ Acts 8:12,13 guilty of ‘sorcery’ Acts 8: guilty of ‘wrong religion’ Acts 9: guilty of ‘persecution of church’ Acts 10: guilty of ‘being lost’ Acts 16: guilty of ‘ignorance’ Acts 18: guilty of (cf. ICor. 6:9-11) Acts 22: guilty of ‘sin’

9 Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind,

7 10 Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God. 11 And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.

9 When re-baptism is necessary...
Wrong mode: pouring, sprinkling Wrong authority: someone other than Jesus Wrong purpose: because we are saved, as a public confession Wrong subject: not a penitent believer, to please others, an infant

10 Have you been baptized scripturally?
Hear the word. Rom. 10:17 Believe in Jesus. John 8:24 Repent . Acts 2:38 Confess Christ. Matt. 10:32,33 Be Baptized. Acts 10:48 Live faithfully. I Cor. 15:58

11 If one sinner must be baptized to be forgiven of his sins, why would not all
Sinners be required to do the same thing..be baptized? If baptism was non-essential, why would God say so much about it? Why would so Many people in the bible ‘be baptized’?

12 Thought questions: If you are baptized into Christ, how can you get into Christ without being baptized? Gal. 3:27 If you are added by the Lord to the church when you are baptized, how can you get into the church without being baptized? Acts 2:47; I Cor. 12:13
