8. Homework Your child will have math homework every school night.
Occasionally your child will have Friday night homework (very few times).
They may sometimes earn a “No Homework Pass”.

9. Classroom Behavior
Students who follow classroom rules will be positively rewarded through the use of treats, stickers, special jobs, praise and free time. There will be a Longhorn Stickers chart in their binder that they earn for good behavior. For each 10 stickers, students will receive something from my treasure box.
Students are expected to follow the school and classroom rules and procedures every day. There should be no problems because students were set expectations to follow.

10. Behavior
In addition there is zero-tolerance, school-wide policy against bullying. We are a classroom community and here to learn and get along, respecting everyone. Parents will be notified of any situations involving bullying.

Get “caught” following appropriate school rules and behavior.
If you receive a ticket, write your full name on it.
Office Staff will put your ticket on the board according to the number on the back of the ticket.
Don’t forget to sign the “Celebrity Book.”
Return to class immediately.
Remember to continue checking the Principal’s 200 Chart for your chance to earn the “Mystery Motivator”!

You will sign your name in the Celebrity Book and get a positive phone call home.

22. How Do I Play?
All students that receive a “Highlands WHIP” ticket will win a small reward!!!!!
Once the Principal’s 200 Board has ten “Highlands WHIP” tickets in a row, those 10 students will earn a chance to win the “Mystery Motivator”-----THE BIG REWARD!!!!!!!

Teachers please do not tell students any of the ideas we have presented. That is part of the mystery. You can let them know that the prize will be something bigger than a bag of chips 
The board is then cleared and WHIP 200 starts over!

25. School Policies
Attendance: Six or more absences/and or tardies will lead to a check on the report card.
Missed work will have to be made up once the child returns to school. Lesson plans change from day to day based on accomplished tasks, so sending home anticipated work in advance may be difficult.
Tardies: Students are tardy if they arrive after 7:30. Breakfast is served at 7:15, so arrive on time to get breakfast!
Per district guidelines, students must be fever-free for 24 hours before returning to school.

26. School Policies cont.
Cell phones must be off during the day and in students’ backpacks. If they are seen, they will be confiscated and returned at the end of the day.
Drop off: In the mornings, no students should be dropped off at school before 7:15 for safety reasons. Students may be dropped off at Door #8 or the front of the school.

27. Dismissal Procedures Dismissal time is at 3:00pm.
All car riders grades 3-5 will be dismissed in the front of the school.
All car riders with younger siblings will be dismissed at the back door #8.

This year, we are using an app called Remind 101 to send you notifications about upcoming school and class events, tests and activities.
