What do you know about Odd and Even Numbers?

4 Exploring the Properties of Odd and Even Numbers
Working with your table group, sort a set of Number Mats into odd and even piles.

5 Exploring the Properties of Odd and Even Numbers
How did you sort the cards? What do you notice about the cards in each pile?

6 Exploring the Properties of Odd and Even Numbers
What numbers should we list under Even? What number should we list under Odd? Using twenty counters, share your counters into groups of two to identify the numbers between 10 and 20 that are also odd and even. Record on T-Chart.

13 Reflection Review 1.9 Add two-digit numbers to the Even/Odd Chart.
What do all the even number have in common? What do all of the off numbers have in common? Is 23 even or odd? What about 56? 88? 91?

14 Reflection In your group, explore what happens when you combine two even quantities of counters. Record your combinations as equations and not whether the sum is odd or even. Repeat the process with two odd quantities of counters. Repeat with an odd number and an even number.

15 Reflection Discuss what you noticed about adding odd and even numbers.
What do you think will happen if we use doubles like 3 plus 3? Will we have an even total or an odd total? What if we double 4? Why do you think that?
