2. I was born on September 30 th, 1631. My parents are Israel and Elizabeth Stoughton. My family was part of the early settlers in Dorchester, Mass.

3.  I was very interested in the church from a young age.  I was a very religious man and strict Puritan.

4.  I graduated from Harvard College in 1650 at age 19.  I received a degree in Theology.  Then I went on to continue my studies at New College, Oxford and graduated in 1653.

5.  I originally wanted to pursue a career as a preacher and was offered a job as the Church Pastor.  Once the accusations of witchcraft began I was appointed to Chief Justice of the Court.

6.  I was the Chief Justice of the Court during the Salem Witch Trials.  I was especially harsh during the trials and allowed spectral evidence to be used in the trials.  I signed many existing death warrants during the trials.

7.  After the trials ended I was appointed to Governor.  I never apologized for my part in the Salem Witch Trials  I died on July 7 th, 1701
