Requirements for President Person must be a natural born citizen. Be at least 35 years of age. Live in the U.S. for at least 14 years.

Chief of State Ceremonial head of state. In some countries the head of state does not rule - in England for example. Entertain foreign dignitaries, attend weddings and funerals of foreign officials.

Chief Executive Power is very broad - in both domestic and foreign affairs. Makes the presidency one of the most powerful offices in the world.

Chief Administrator The President directs an administration that employs over 3 million people and spends around $1.6 trillion every year!

Chief Diplomat Main builder of foreign policy. Appoints Ambassadors. The nations spokesperson to the rest of the world.

Commander in Chief The President is in charge of the armed forces. The military is subject to the President’s direct and immediate control.

Chief Legislator Main architect of public policies. Sets the overall shape of the congressional agenda. Approves or rejects legislation

Chief of Party Leader of the political party that controls the executive branch. Not a constitutional role!

Chief Citizen The representative of all U.S. Citizens. Should work for the interest of all Americans. Not mentioned in the Constitution.
