5. Biology students will participate in a variety of laboratory experiments and develop an appreciation for the world around them. Honors Biology students will complete an independent research project during the year. AP Biology students must have completed both Biology 1 and Chemistry or be enrolled in Chemistry concurrently.

7. First year Chemistry students should be enrolled in Algebra II or a higher math. This course requires higher level thinking skills with the ability to critically analyze lab results. 13. Independent Science Research Students spend the year on an independent project. Students research, develop, and conduct an independent research project. The project will culminate with participation in the Regional Science and Engineering Fair.

14. Geospatial Science Students use Geographic Information System to study and analyze data. Students study and learn to use the different tools associated with GIS. Students have the opportunity to obtain three college credits from James Madison University after successfully completing the course.
