Welcome to the iHV Fellows Fellows of the Institute of Health Visiting 2014

Aim This presentation covers key information about the role of the Fellow. It will explain how Fellows (FiHV) act as Ambassadors of the health visiting profession to provide better outcomes for children, families and communities.

Background to iHV Fellows Programme The Fellows programme is sponsored by the Department of Health and endorsed by Nursing Director Viv Bennett. It is a unique programme which:- 4. Provides health visitors with the opportunity to influence LA commissioners on the value of health visiting 3. Creates a collective voice for the profession built on the iHV’s vision of excellence 1. Background: Who are the iHV Fellows? “Fellows are health visitors with exceptional leadership qualities delivering excellence in practice. They are known as professionals who 'push the boundaries', have an entrepreneurial spirit and have made a real difference to the health outcomes of children, families and communities. Whilst many are from clinical practice, some also come from research and education.” (Dr Cheryll Adams) All Fellows of the Institute of Health Visiting (FiHV) go through a robust assessment process to ensure they are providing excellence in practice.

FiHV influencing the policy agenda Fellows demonstrate the value of health visiting by keeping children and families as pivotal in service design and provision. They attend parliamentary roundtables to ensure policy develops alongside professional and evidence based practice. Fellows use their influencing and negotiating skills to bring health visiting to the attention of policy makers promoting better outcomes for children, families and communities.

The role of a Fellow of the Institute of Health Visiting (FiHV) is a prestigious opportunity to: Become an ambassador for the health visiting profession and be a catalyst for positive change.
