SITUATION Spain is a member state of the European Union situated in southwestern Europe on the Iberian Peninsula. With an area of 504,030 km², Spain is the second largest country in the European Union, after France.

TERRITORIAL DIVISION Spain is divided in17 Autonomic Comunities and 2 Autonomic Cities in the north of Africa. The capital of Spain is Madrid, the biggest city. Other big cities are:Barcelona,Sevilla and Valencia.

ECONOMY Spain's economy is the ninth largest worldwide and the fifth largest in Europe. It is also the third largest world investor. We use the euro (€) The main activities are: - Agriculture and Livestock - Fisheries - Mining - Industry - Tourism

TYPICAL SPORTS and SPORTS CELEBRITIES Football: in Spain we´ve got a powerful football league; the most important clubs in Spain are: FC Barcelona and Real Madrid. “Pelota”: it is practised mostly in the north of Spain. Tennis: we´ve got the first best player in the ATP ranking. His name is Rafa Nadal. Fernando Alonso has been twice Formula 1 world champion.
