Focus School Requirements Designate a district contact Review ESEA Turnaround Principals and Critical Success Factors Should have included in 2013-2014 CIP, no less than one instructional intervention targeted at closing existing achievement gaps; and Include reason for identification of intervention and fully implement in 2014=2015 If IR and Focus, embed interventions from here into required improvement plans.

Priority (Non-TTIPS) Designate a DCSI Participate in required training provided by TEA, TCDSS and attend AIE Conference. In addition to any training specific to the grant. Engage in TAIS process, evaluate current school staff and create a plan which should have been submitted at the end of the 2013-14 school year that addresses the turnaround principles. This plan, based on the principles, will be fully implemented by the school in 2014-15 school year.

Turnaround Principles Strengthen the School’s Instructional Program Using data to inform instruction and for continuous improvement, including providing time for collaboration on the use of data Provide strong leadership Redesign the school day, week or year to include additional time for student learning and teacher collaboration Provide ongoing mechanisms for family and community engagement Establishing a school environment that improves school safety, discipline and addressing other non-academic factors that impact student achievement. Ensuring teachers are effective and able to improve instruction
