POST-SECONDARY PATHWAYS THINGS TO CONSIDER UNIVERSITY Requires a min. of 6 Gr 12 courses with an average of low 70’s to high 80’s depending on the program & school Most schools require 4 U courses and 2 M however that varies from school to school Need to check individual schools & programs for specific requirements www.electronicinfo.ca COLLEGE Average in grade 11&12 courses of high 60’s and 70’s (depends on program and school) Courses may be studied at C or U level Need to check individual schools & programs for specific requirements www.ontariocolleges.ca APPRENTICESHIP Consider an OYAP program Gr. 12 Math recommended Check schooltocareer.ca & see a counsellor WORK Co-op strongly recommended Visit Guidance for websites and resources

CHOOSING WELL Make sure you choose any missing required courses Make sure you have prerequisites where necessary Consider changing level if your marks are BELOW 70% or ABOVE 80%

CHOOSING THE RIGHT LEVEL BELOW 70% you are missing key concepts and skills in this area Choose the level at which you can achieve the highest marks and acquire the most knowledge & skills

What if I failed a course? You MUST repeat the course either at summer school or next year You can take it in summer school if it’s offered; summer school runs in July Summer school information is available in MAY in student services If you know you won’t be attending summer school, you MUST choose the course for next year

NEXT STEPS Research using websites; talking to teachers, families and friends Talk to a counsellor Check the Course book on the Drury web site Take home all the info and read it through with your parents

Bring the completed & signed option sheet back to school on Thursday Attend the Course Fair on Friday with your planning sheet to ask questions and get information Input your choices in the lab when you’re called

IMPORTANT !!!!!!!!!!!! Timetable changes for September will be made where possible for the following reasons ONLY: Failed course Course completed in summer school Change in destination/pathway Choose wisely now because timetable changes may NOT be possible later. SO CHOOSE WISELY NOW!!
