2 Act IV: In a nutshell! Please take notes in your journal. Title the page/Put in your contents as shown above!

3 Act IV, Scene i: A house in Rome  Antony meets with Octavius and Lepidus. Talk about who needs to die.  Lepidus is sent on an errand A and O discuss how he may not be smart enough to rule Rome.  O thinks his loyalty is enough Antony says, “Yeah, so is my horse.”

4 Act IV, Scene ii: Outside of Brutus’ tent  Cassius and his army meet up with Brutus and his army. Camped outside of Rome.  They bicker back and forth over whether or not they’re loyal to each other.

5 Act IV, Scene iii: Inside Brutus’ tent  Still arguing Brutus accuses Cassius of taking bribes. C denies it; bickering continues, and C offers B a dagger to kill him… Drama, drama, drama = friends again!

6 Act IV, Scene iii: Inside Brutus’ tent  Portia has killed herself by swallowing fire.  A and O are killing senators (Cicero) Marching on Phillipi  B and C decide to meet A and O in battle.  When B is all alone, the ghost of Caesar shows up to say, “See you at Phillipi!”

7 Questions: Answer in your journal. 1. For what you know of Antony, would be truly be happy to share power with Octavius?

8 Questions: Answer in your journal. 2. Cassius and Brutus begin fighting, which is a typical occurrence in fiction when characters deal with the stress of their crimes. What are some other stories where you’ve seen this happen? (Books, TV, movies, comics are all OK examples.)

9 Questions: Answer in your journal. 3. Why do you think Caesar’s ghost tells Brutus he’ll see him again at Phillipi? Why does the ghost appear to Brutus and not to Cassius?
