Indicator 5.3.Contraceptive Prevalence Rate

Definition of Contraceptive Prevalence Rate International Definition: Contraceptive prevalence rate is percentage of women married or in- union age 15-49 who are currently using, or whose sexual partner is using, at least one method of contraception regardless of the method used. Country Definition: Contraceptive prevalence rate is the percentage of currently married women or in-union aged 15-49 who are practicing, or whose sexual partners are practicing, any form of contraception. It is usually measured for married women only.

Calculation of Contraceptive Prevalence Rate International Calculation: Contraceptive prevalence rate is calculated by the ratio of women of reproductive age 15-49 who are currently using any method of contra- ceptive over the total number of women of reproductive women age 15-49 who are married or in-union. Country calculation: Contraceptive prevalence rate is calculated by the ratio of women of reproductive age 15-49 who are currently using any method of contra- ceptive over the total number of women of reproductive women age 15-49 who are married or in-union.
