Prehistory The Oldest Leaving Things on Earth…
2
Long ago Dinosaurs existed long ago. What does it mean“long ago”? Does it mean many years ago? Before your parents were born? No. We are talking about the time when there were only animals and plants on the land. There were no people, so the only way we know about the life at that time is that we find the remains of the plants and animals that have not decayed. Dinosaurs were the biggest animals at that time. What does it mean? It means that there were nothing bigger than dinosaurs. Would you like to know more about such animals? Welcome to our lesson!

At the Time of the Dinosaurs More dinosaur facts dinosaurs were on the Earth for more than 100 million years; dinosaurs were reptiles; at their time there was only one continent; birds did not live at the same time as dinosaurs; there were more than 800 different kinds of dinosaurs; some dinosaurs were big, some dinosaurs were small; among dinosaurs there were plant- and meat-eaters.

How fast could dinosaurs walk or run?
7
Why did some dinosaurs grow so big? Paleontologists don’t know for certain, but perhaps a large body size helped to regulate internal body temperature, or let them reach new sources of food (treetops as giraffes do today). No modern animals except whales are even close in size to the largest dinosaurs. 11 2 1 – a dinosaur 2 – a man
8
Why did dinosaurs die out? There dozens of theories to explain a probable cause or causes: meteorite impact was the partial cause; extensive release of volcanic gases; climatic cooling; sea-level change; low reproduction rates; poison gases from a comet; changes in the Earth’s orbit or magnetic field.
