Microsoft Excel is a spreadsheet program It is used to store, organize, and manipulate data Microsoft Excel’s layout is a rectangular grid (as shown in the image) Microsoft Excel begins with 3 worksheets – these worksheets can each store a rectangular grid of data – extra sheets can be added (sheets shown in the image)

Microsoft Excel has a toolbar also known as a “ribbon” which has different tabs. These tabs have different tools available. The tabs are: ◦ Home ◦ Insert ◦ Page Layout ◦ Formulas ◦ Data ◦ Review ◦ View

Creating formulas in Excel may be confusing when beginning. This section will give you the basics in using formulas to add and subtract.

Creating a chart is simple once you get to know it. It is a nice way to represent your data visually. The first step to creating your chart is to ensure you have the data set in the correct way. The image to the right shows a basic example of this. I have 2 headings, Item and Price. I then have a list of 4 items and 4 prices. I then select all that data by dragging the left mouse button (as mentioned in the first video). And then I go to Insert -> Column (depending on what chart style you want) and then I chose a 2-D Column.
