Involved managers / leaders steward this participation The overall direction of the H&S program, including LPS, is provided from the top down Determination of specifics, such as how to best use LPS and other H&S tools, is from the bottom up. All levels must be actively involved, with each person having the opportunity to develop ownership and identify with the daily use of LPS tools and activities.

Management / Leadership Involvement Helps Eliminate Hazards before a Loss Occurs Why? When managers / leaders are involved and participate in the development of JSAs and the performance of LPOs, LPS field assessments, and near-miss investigations, employees are more likely to do so, as well. The majority of time spent on LPS tools and activities should be proactive. In other words, most LPS efforts should focus on identifying and eliminating hazards and risks before an injury or other type of loss takes place – not after the fact.
