Trajan became emperor in 98 ACE Trajan was adopted by Nerva in 97 ACE Nerva died on January 28, 98 ACE When he entered Rome as the new emperor he entered the city on foot and embraced each of the senators and even walked among the ordinary people

Throughout Trajan’s reign there was an increasing program of public works. The road networks were greatly improved. Previsions for the poor were made. Two wars were fought against Dacia.

He was suffering from circulatory problems before he died that he suspected were due to poison. He then suffered a small stroke which partially paralyzed him Shortly after he died in Selinus on August 9, 117 ACE

Trajan’s successor was Hadrian. Hadrian’s father was a cousin of Trajan. Upon the death of his father he became the ward of Trajan when he was 10 years old. He was emperor from 117 ACE to 138 ACE
