Advanced tools of teaching: Augmented reality Università degli studi G D’Annuzio 10-14 June, 2015 Valeria Sciarretta Ud’Anet Srl
2
The topic Augmented reality (AR) is future technology for the now. This rapidly emerging medium enables new ways of thinking, seeing, interacting, engaging and communicating with your audience at a multi-sensory level.
3
What’s AR Augmented reality (AR) is a live direct or indirect view of a physical, real-world environment whose elements are augmented by computer-generated sensory input such as sound, video, graphics or GPS data. With the help of advanced AR technology the information about the surrounding real world of the user becomes interactive and digitally manipulable. Artificial information about the environment and its objects can be overlaid on the real world.
4
How augmented reality works Augmented Reality (AR) is a technology enriching the real world with digital information and media, such as 3D models and videos, overlaying in real-time the camera view of your smartphone, tablet, PC or connected glasses
5
What we need? Camera Mobile device or Tablet Data base /server for the virtual objects Glasses GPS and Connection
6
In which kind of environments we can use the AR? At the beginning it was used for the following sectors Advertisement Tourism Marketing and social media Now is applied also to research sectors Health and Safety Emergency Resilience Any drill environment Cultural heritage
7
How AR can be use? As a didactic tool in a drill environment (INDOOR and OUTDOOR) As a management tool for the team in any situation As a tool in emergency scenario
8
Drill simulation – scenario in outdoor

In CULTURAL HERITAGE How augmented reality technologies can be used to improve training and rescue in a cultural heritage site ? In a Eemergency scene the team arrive at chaotic scenes and need to make sense of the environment and navigate a place they've never been. Wouldn't it be cool if they could see a virtual map of the site or have "X-ray vision" to see underground and the site plan. Thanks to AR they can use location data of the site and they can monitoring during the time the monuments in the site.
