What is the IP Placement? Partnership between St. Mary's of the Lake Hospital, Queen's University and QUIPPED Queen’s University Inter-Professional Patient- Centred Education Direction (QUIPPED) tutorials inter-professional shadowing patient-centred learning final group project

Who are the participants? 4 tutorial leaders from Queen’s University 7 students social work occupational therapy practical nursing medicine theology psychology

Goals of the Placement Increase understanding of scopes of practice of other disciplines Learn about the collaborative nature of professional practice Use group process in inter-professional decision-making Improve critical analysis and communication skills Enhance understanding of role and experience of patient/client

Tutorials 4 weekly tutorial sessions with reflective journaling Tutorials focused on: temperaments and teamwork client-centred perspective ethics and decision-making inter-professional collaborative care communication and conflict resolution

Inter-Professional Shadowing Observe members of the Geriatric Team from different disciplines Wide variety of shadowing experiences: - Recreation therapy- Speech/LanguagePathology - Occupational therapy- Social Work - Pharmacy- Spiritual Care - Physical therapy- Medicine - Nursing- Discharge Planning
